Therapy Clinic
Pilates
What the therapy involves:
Pilates involves doing exercises standing, sitting or lying on a mat. The exercises focus on controlled breathing and activation of the deep postural muscles while moving your limbs. Various types of equipment can be used to add more challenges to the workout such as fitballs or theraband etc. Specialized equipment may also be used.

The purpose:
Pilates is a total body conditioning technique that works the deep postural muscles thereby improving posture and increasing body awareness.
It strengthens the deep abdominal and back muscles which act like a corset so as to relieve back pain and prevent it’s recurrence.
It helps rebalance the body – especially important to those who play golf, tennis or other one sided games.
It tones and firms muscles without bulking them up,while at the same time improving flexibility.
The benefits:
Pilates is an excellent total body workout. It helps build a lean, strong and supple body.
It works your key postural, abdominal and back muscles and so helps relieve neck and back pain. It is a relaxing mind-body form of exercise that helps relieve stress. It tones and firms the body while improving posture.
Typical uses of this form of therapy:
To release tension in the neck and shoulder muscles.
To re-educate the back and abdominal muscles following a back injury.
To tone and firm muscles and improve flexibility.
To improve posture and strengthen the core muscles to help prevent injury.

He emigrated to the U.S. and opened his first studio in New York.
